The 2015 Made By Me Silent Auction & Art Show was a great success. THe talents and creative art work of special needs children and young adults were on display. A picture is worth a thousand words is the best way to describe the magical evening that took place on Mach 18, 2015 at the VIsta Gardens Shopping Center. This was the second Art SHow sponsored by SPEC Foundation. THe first Art SHow , in February 2014, at Annie's Art Gallery spurred the beginning of bridging a relationship between first responders and special needs children and young adults. All of the art work for this event was made by children with autism, intellectual disibilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and others.
This years Art Show was attended by St. Joseph's Fire Station 806 firefighters and Deputies from the Sheriff Dept. Sheriff High attended the previous art show in 2014 and deputized children who attended the event. He was interviewed by the Gazette Newspaper who also covered the event. THe Girl Scouts, BIG .(Blacks in Government), Shopper's Food Warehouse and many more supporters came out to support the children. Everyone was reminded through the art work that even though some of the children can not express themselves verbally, there are many ways to express their thoughts and feelings to people. Taking the time to get to know everyone in our community is a win/win for all.
